The 2" x 48" Hickory Dowels are made from the highest quality Hickory. Made in the U.S.A., these dowels have a wide range of applications from DIY crafts to fine woodworking projects. Hickory is among the hardest and strongest of woods native to the United States. "True Hickory" refers to the "Shagbark" species, and is the most desirable of hickories. Many substitute Pecan because it is almost indistinguishable from hickory. Hickory retains its toughness over time, is very dense and shock resistant.
