The 2-7/8" Poplar bungs are made from high quality Appalachian poplar, which is the most popular specie of wood used for barrel bungs. Used by cooperages and distilleries for over a century, poplar expands well to create a tight seal, but is also soft enough to eliminate any risk of damaging the barrel. With the industry standard 5-degree taper, these bungs are designed to ensure a perfect fit into tapered holes. Custom diameters, thicknesses, and species are also available upon request. In addition to being used in barrels, wooden bungs can also be used as in packaging tubes, paper cores, firework mortar tubes, and as insulation plugs.
